Popular culture historian David J. Skal has spent more than 25 years on the trail of Bram Stoker, the elusively enigmatic author of the gothic horror classic Dracula. Tonight, join us to celebrate the launch of his new book “Something in the Blood: The Untold Story of Bram Stoker,” a riveting cultural biography intertwining Stoker’s life with that of his longtime acquaintance and romantic rival Oscar Wilde, who assumes the role of a doppelganger worthy of a Gothic novel.
Skal will share tales of his obsessive Stoker quest, read selections from the book, and lead a freewheeling audience discussion about sex, death, and Draculamania in general. Books will be available for sale and signing.
Popular culture historian, David Skal is the author of such acclaimed studies as The Monster Show and Hollywood Gothic. He is a member of the Authors Guild and lives and writes in Glendale, California.
Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is canceled.
