In 1984 the art collective Neue Slowenische Kunst was formed in Slovenia. Initially composed of the groups Irwin, Laibach, and Scipion Nacise Sisters Theater, NSK promulgated an agenda to renew and redefine Slovenian arts by reactivating painful historical events and rescuing the spirit of the avant garde from its political assimilation. The NSK State, a virtual state created by the collective, continues to operate today and has over 14,000 citizens. Confounding, confusing, disturbing, and ultimately embraced, the collective and its constituent groups have continued to pursue their goals across shifting themes and mediums with fidelity and academic depth down to the present day.

Charles Lewis has been an NSK State citizen since 2001. He operates as an NSK State diplomat in New York, is on the organizing committee for NSKNY, and is a principal in the NSK State Reserve. When he is not engaged in his duties as a citizen he is a financial software developer and also has a self-published novel, Cappadocia.

Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is canceled.
