This class will introduce students to the process and techniques behind basic small
mammal taxidermy. Students will learn how to skin, prep, preserve, mount, and
position the animal. Basic armatures will be used and students will learn how to
carve head forms. We will discuss how to properly mold items for taxidermy use at
home. Students encouraged to bring in any props they may want to dress the animal
up in. I will provide all specimens, materials, and tools for the class. Each student
will leave with his or her own finished mount. (If rats are used student will be shown how to properly and safely remove the tail bones and meat completely.)

No harsh chemicals are used in class.
Gloves are provided.
All animals are disease/mite free.
Its a long day, bring a snack!

Katie Innamorato is one of our taxidermists in residence and is a professionally trained taxidermy artist. She is an active MART and Garden State Taxidermist Association member. Her work has been featured on the TV shows “Oddities and Odd Folks Home,” displayed at La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles and various other galleries. She was recently published in the book Taxidermy Art by Robert Marbury and featured on Vice. She has also done demonstrations and lectures at the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire and at The Institute Library in Connecticut
