La Frequenza Fantasma: Hunting for the Ghost Frequency

December 10 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

| $8

An Illustrated lecture and screening with Chiara Ambrosio

Date: Wednesday December 10th
Time: 8pm
Admission: $8 ( Tickets Here)
Location: Morbid Anatomy Museum, 424 Third Avenue.

“La Frequenza Fantasma (The Ghost Frequency)” is the debut feature film by artist and filmmaker Chiara Ambrosio. The film took five years to complete and was an incredible journey through the physical and metaphysical landscapes of Verbicaro, a crumbling village nestled on the mountains of Calabria in the south of Italy.

Tonight Chiara will take you on a journey through text, images and film to a place suspended in time and space: a place of sounds, smells and numberless thresholds where the memory of a mythical past and the present are inextricably intertwined.

Together we will explore the nature of collective and personal history and the origin and preservation of memory: how it is etched and perpetrated, both in the minds of the people, and in that of the soil, the ruins and matter itself.

We will talk about historical hauntings, and how physical space can turn into a memory theatre in which the past, the present and the future collide.

Chiara Ambrosio is a visual artist working with video and animation. Her work has included collaborations with performance artists, composers, musicians and writers, and has been shown in a number of venues including national and international film festivals, galleries and site specific events. She also runs The Light & Shadow Salon is a place for artists, writers and audience to meet and share ideas about the past, present and future of the moving image in all its forms.
