Michael Rockefeller: Art’s Cannibal Headhunter Mystery

An Illustrated Lecture by David Kenneth Zuckerman with opening informational lecture from New York Tribal Art dealer Cole Harrell
Date: Tuesday, September 16th
Time: 8pm
Admission: $8 ( Tickets Here )

In 1938, Michael Rockefeller was born into New York royalty. After graduating from Harvard, he pursued his interest in tribal art to New Guinea. In 1961, just 23 years old, Michael went missing in the tribal Asmat head-hunter region. He was never again seen, and what befell Michael remains a question mark. His death, however, was a catalyst for enormous political repositioning for the country many consider to be one of the last few places unexplored by man.

Over fifty years later, Michael still captures imaginations of far-flung travel, exotic art and cannibalism. Tonight’s talk will examine the Michael Rockefeller case with hopes to learn more about what it is about nature that man needs, yet destroys him. With opening informational lecture from New York tribal art dealer Cole Harrell.

David Kenneth Zuckerman is a bicoastal screenwriter, novelist and producer. His past writings have included a wide array of dark and beautiful subject matter: mystics, drug mules, young serial killers, jazz musicians, Shino fairytales, virgins, delinquents, jewel thieves, government test subjects and Michael Rockefeller. At age three he died. At age eight, he began his decade long reptile collection. At age eleven his family’s wealth and inheritance was destroyed in a landslide. At age sixteen and seventeen, he escaped Southern California for Namibia. He is a graduate of Tulane University. Once a Los Angeles native, he is currently a Brooklynite.
